There is no greater luck than working with an environment filled by good people, brilliant scientists, and genuine dedication.

Postdoctoral researchers

Picture

Guillermo García Gómez
. Metabolic scaling theory and ecophysiology in aquatic organisms. Guille's work combines multiple approaches at the metabolic individual level to infer large-scale processes at population and community levels. He has performed a suite of lab and field experimental works to understand which are the main drivers influencing the metabolic scaling of organisms. Fundings: FRESCO project at the Kin Juan Carlos University.

Melina Celeste. Postdoctoral researcher with a strong expertise in experimental biology in aquatic ecosystems. She has developed part of her research career with planktonic communities in controlled conditions. Her research focuses on the effects of multiple stressors and ecotoxicology on the freshwater biota. Fundings: WARMSIZE project at the Kin Juan Carlos University.

Ariadna García-Astillero
. Trophic ecology in food web lakes. Ari's thesis goals are to unravel the main mechanisms responsible for the structure and functioning of lake food webs from small to large spatiotemporal scales. She is using plankton communities as the model organism in lakes. Her thesis will combine a quantitative approach by leveraging biodiversity data, and an empirical approach by recollecting biotic samples in two field campaigns carried out in Iberian lakes. Fundings: Internal Fellowship at the Kin Juan Carlos University.  Co-supervised with Dr. Javier Sánchez-Hernández.

Rosa Gurí. Body size structure in stream fish and macroinvertebrates. Rosa's thesis focus on the integration of body size tools for biomonitoring in stream biota, including the use of automated techniques (e.g., Zooscan), and the efficiency of sampling methods (e.g., electrofishing). Rosa's main interest lies on the stream habitat restoration, freshwater biodiversity, and environmental education. Fundings: LIFE Alnus. Co-supervised with Dr. Marc Ordeix. University of Vic-UCC.

Technicians

Clara Saez. She is a passionate river ecologists with an special interest in macroinvertebrate communities as bioindicators to evaluate the ecological status of rivers. She secured fundings from the program Investigo (Convocatoria Jóvenes Investigo) and she is giving an essential support to the lab tasks, field sampling and data analysis while she is pursuing her academic career by engaging in a PhD programme.
